It sounds corny, I know it. But I don’t care. It’s the truth: I miss cuddling.
At the end of a long stressful day, one of my favorite things to do when I was married was to hold my wife in my arms and just breathe together. Our heartbeats and our respiratory rhythm would sync up — a sign that, to me, everything would be okay. Somehow.
It’s been almost four years since I’ve experienced that and man I really do miss it. These days, one cope for me is to paint what I feel — or in this case of the painting “Let’s Watch,” I paint what I don’t feel but want to feel.
While I’ve produced a loving couple holding one another, I’ve also got their gaze set on this magnificent aura of geometric wonder — a rhythmic dance of spiraling shapes that aims to calm and soothe.
At the very center of it all is “hope” and “love”:
We all cope with loss in different ways. While I still struggle to make sense of how I got to where I am now, I try to keep my eye on that “hope” out there. Maybe one day, “love” will make a comeback. And… maybe it won’t. Either way, I’ll keep looking for hope in the maze of reality.
