Hello Dolly!

If you’re like me then you can never get enough of the one and only, Dolly Parton! Yee haw! I’ve been following Dolly since I was a kid and she makes me smile just as much today as she did back then.

That’s why when deciding what to paint for the Conroe Art League’s 10th Annual Art Show and Auction, I decided to do a dynamic doodle portrait of the Smoky Mountain Songbird. Woo hoo!

This piece, along with 89 other entries from local Conroe Art League member artists, is up for online auction starting January 8th, 2024, at 11 AM, ending February 2nd, 2024, at 4 PM. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Student Awards Show by Conroe Art League, which offers financial awards to selected high school seniors from Montgomery County, TX, based on their artwork.

If you live in the area and want to see the pieces for yourself, you can visit the Madeley Gallery at the Conroe Art League through February 2. This is just one of the many ways that Conroe Art League members give back to the public and in this particular case, it’s extra special as we also get to use the proceeds to benefit local youth — those who are going to carry on the artistic spirit for us well into the future.

This auction is special to me. And so is this painting. In fact, if you look closely at the background, you will be able to find three of Dolly’s most memorable song titles. If you can find them, do tell me in the comments! Meanwhile, happy bidding!

  1. I found all three right away (Jolene, 9 to 5, and I Will Always Love You.). I didn’t read what you wrote and was excited to see those and spent a while looking for another one. 🙂
