“Salute” and Second Sundays

This weekend kicks off the “Salute” exhibition at the Ardest Gallery which will feature artworks by veterans as well as art dedicated to honoring their service. The Ardest Gallery, run by Julie Verville, represents Houston’s top 2D and 3D visual artists and is nestled in the Bella Bottega’s working artist community, just North of Houston at 903 Honea Egypt Rd, Magnolia, TX.

The piece I have participating in this show is called “Patrol”. It’s a 12×24 inch acrylic painting featuring a US Army infantryman in figurative abstract form. He is set against a color field made from the camo code of the US Army and appears to be alone. I never served in the military, but I have often wondered what it must be like to be so far from home and those you love. What is it like to carry so much physical gear through strange lands? What is it like to bear the weight of a nation and everything it represents on your own shoulders?

The show opening is today, Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 5pm to 8pm. It will continue Sunday, November 13 from 1pm to 4pm as part of the Bella Bottega’s Second Sundays series. Every second Sunday of the month, my art studio, alongside the other seven art studios that make up the Bella Bottega, are open to the public with original artworks for sale. The art featured includes many different styles and mediums. Come join us for chocolate, champagne and great art! I would love for you to come see what new projects I’ve been working on. I promise to provide excellent conversation!
