“Feed me, Seymour! Feed me all night long!”
Oh man, do those lines bring back lots of fun memories. If I close my eyes, I’m 8 years old again, boppin’ up and down to pastiche tunes in anticipation of Steve Martin (as the dentist) getting eaten by a large talking plant. Might not sound super wholesome, but I assure you, it was as innocent as could be!
So when the Ardest Gallery approached me for a collaboration project with the Players Theatre Company’s production of Little Shop of Horrors going up at the Owen Theatre in Conroe, I jumped at the opportunity. The show runs May 9 through May 25 and the painting I created just for the show is on display while also serving as the playbill cover. In addition to that you can see some more of my work presented in the theatre lobby.
To get into the swing of outer space plant shenanigans, I listened to the soundtrack over and over again while painting this piece. What a trip down memory lane! To make it even more groovy, I hid the words “The Players Theatre Co” within the geometric background. Did you find them? Tell me in the comments!
Meanwhile, go check out this show while you can and don’t be surprised if you leave thirsty for… blood!
